1) What does a home inspection cost in Minnesota?
Most standard inspections range between $400 and $525. Pricing depends on the home’s size, age, and complexity. For exact pricing and discounts, see our Home Inspection Cost page.

2) What is included in a Mason Home Inspection?
A home inspection is a visual evaluation of the accessible systems and components of the home.
We inspect items like structure, roof, attic/insulation/ventilation, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and interior components.

3) How long does a home inspection take?
Most inspections take 2 to 4 hours depending on the home. Larger or older homes can take longer.
We focus on doing it right, not rushing it.
4) Should I attend the home inspection?
Yes, if you can. The last 20 to 30 minutes are usually the most valuable because we can walk through key findings, show you important shutoffs, and answer questions in real time.
5) When will I receive the inspection report?
You’ll receive a modern, photo-rich report quickly, typically within 24 hours.

6) Will a home inspection “pass” or “fail” a house?
No. Home inspections are not pass or fail.
The inspection helps you understand condition, safety concerns, and maintenance items so you can make informed decisions. Every home has issues, even newer homes.

7) Do new construction homes need inspections?
Often, yes. New homes can still have installation issues, missing items, or safety concerns.
An inspection can help catch problems early, when the builder can address them more easily.
8) Should I get a sewer scope?
A sewer scope is a separate service that uses a camera to inspect the main sewer line.
It can be valuable for older homes, homes with large trees, or any home where you want more certainty.
Sewer line repairs can be expensive, so many buyers choose to scope as a precaution.
9) Should I test for radon?
Yes. In Chisago, Washington, and Isanti counties, as well as many other parts of Minnesota, radon testing is strongly recommended. Radon is a naturally occurring gas that is odorless and invisible, so the only way to know the level in a home is to test for it.

10) How do I prepare the home for inspection?
The biggest help is access: clear paths to the electrical panel, furnace, water heater, attic access, and under-sink areas.
If the home is occupied, securing pets also helps the inspection go smoothly.
11) Do you offer flexible payment options?
Yes. When you book with Mason Home Inspections, you can choose one of these payment options:

Pay Now (standard): Pay by credit or debit card using a secure online payment link.

Pay at Close: If your inspection package includes $500 or more in services, you can choose Pay at Close to defer payment until your closing date. You will enter your closing date and closing contact details, sign the Pay at Close agreement, and add a backup payment method so everything is set up properly.

Pay Over Time (Buy Now, Pay Later): Prefer monthly payments, select the Pay Later option at checkout to apply through the payment provider and choose a payment plan if approved.

You will see the available payment choices during online booking and again in your client portal. Pay at Close appears when your selected services meet the $500 minimum.
